HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1151 . - Clt� o� ORONO RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL • NO. ��.5�/ • � • • TRANSMITTING THE 1980 CITY OF ORONO COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT PLAN TO THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation located within Hennepin County and within the planning jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities Region; and - WHEREAS, the City of Orono is required by Minnesota Statutes to prepare and adopt a Comprehensive Municipal Plan consistent with the needs, desires and resources of the community; consistent with the planning activities of adjacent governmental units; and consistent with the availability of inetropolitan services and facilities; and WHEREAS , the City of Orono prepared and adopted such a Comprehensive Plan in 1974 , which Plan was reviewed and approved by the Metropolitan Council on November 7 , 1974; and . WHEREAS , the City of Orono desired to update its 1974 Plan - to be consistent with current requirements of the Metropolitan Land Planning Act, and to include more data and detail for increased daily use by Orono citizens and city officials; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission and City Council have now completed the 1980 City of Orono Community Management Plan, which Plan has been duly adopted by resolution of the Orono Planning Commission on May 19, 1980. � _ NOW, THEREFORE, BE ,IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Orono hereby concurs with the recommendations of the Orono Planning Commission and hereby transmits the 1980 City of Orono Community Management Plan to the Metropolitan Council for formal review and comment according to the provisions of Minnesota Statutes 473. 175. 1. This Plan is an expansion and updated version of the 1974 Orono Village Comprehensive Guide Plan as approved by the Metropolitan Council on November 7 , 1974 . 2. This Plan contains the same basic goals, objectives, policies and concerns as did the 1974 Plan. 3. This Plan has been developed to be consistent with the goals, objectives , needs and desires of Orono citizens. Orono feels this Plan is consistent with the planning goals and objectives of Orono' s municipal neighbors. 5. Orono feels this Plan is consistent with the Systems Statement issued to Orono by the Metropolitan Council on June 23, 19.77 , as amended on March 31, 1978 and April 27, 1978. 6. Orono feels this Plan is consistent with all the applicable provisions of the Metropolitan Council ' s Development Framework Guide. AND, FURTHERMORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that concurrent with submission of this Plan to the Metropolitan Council, Orono will simultaneously provide copies for review to all abutting municipalities, all affected school districts, and all other governmental jurisdictions. l. This Plan is submitted to the Metropolitan Council on or before the mandatory submission date of July 1, 1980. 2. The City of Orono hereby requests the Metropolitan Council to defer formal review until the adjacent municipalities and governmental units have had an opportunity to review and comment on this Plan.
