RESOLUTION N0. 1107
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY
ADMIrdISTRATOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT
WITH THE WESTONKA COUNSELING FOR OLDER
ADULTS FOR SERVICES
WHEREAS, the elderly as a group experience a larger amount of
emotional trauma due to losses such as death of spouse ,
reduction of income, social isolation, failing health,
etc. and
WHEREAS, Orono has elderly citizens that are vulnerable to dif-
ficulty in coping with problems such as depression,
anxiety, coping with a physical disability, feeling of
grief, loss and anger, and
WHEREAS , Suburban Community Services is organized under the laws
of Minnesota as a Nonprofit Organization to insure the
continuity of such services , and
WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary to provide Suburban Co�nunity
Services with adequate supplemental funds for its proper
operation of its Westonka Counseling for Older Adulrs
program, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Orono has approved the inclusion of
_ the Westonka Counseling for Older Adults program in its
1980 budget , and
WHEREAS, the City of Orono shall provide for the health, safety
and welfare of its older citizens .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ORONO, ORONO, MINNESOTA:
That the Mayor and City Administrator be authorized to
enter an agreement whereby, that Orono, as a political
subdivision, be included in the provision of Counseling
Services for Senior Citizeiis provided by Suburban Com-
munity Services , that it participate in the benefits
thereof, that it agrees to support a share of the cost
of the provision of such counseling services , and that
this sharing of cost in 1980 be for the period of
January 1, 1980 through December 31, 1980 and be for a
total amount of $2 , 570.
A motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly
seconded by Councilmember Paurus and upon vote being
