Re: Rock concert scheduled for
Saturday, August 28, 1976, 12 A.M. to
12 l*.H. at Flying V Farm on Stubbs Bay
Road Just east of Ski Tonka
Gentlemen:
We represent some of the neighbors In the area of the planned concert for which a
brochure Is being distributed Indicating that ther«* will be a number of bartds playing
and a T-shirt contest. We are wondering whether Intoxicating beverages and other
Intoxicants or mind-altering substances might possibly be Involved. Perhaps the
Police Department has record of a history of this particular dwelling house and Its
occupants with regard to controlled substances and other objectionable behavior.
We understand that whoever Is conducting this evenr might possibly have not compiled
fully with the requirements of the Orono Large-Gathering Ordinance. We would hope
that on this basis alone their request for a permit would be denied. Aside from
this, we understand from talking to our clients that previous events of thl. nature,
operating on a small scale, resulted In a lot of refuse being thrw-/n and bLiwn
around, participants behaving strangely, fences be<ng cut, and vehicles leading the
road.
One of our cllenb suggested that the "local authorities" probably would not be of
much help In protecting the neighborhood and that we should call in the Federal
Narcotics Agents and the State Liquor Control Commission. We expressed to this
client our opinion that the "local authorities" were quite competani to handle
everything since we have great faith In our Orono City government.
Yours very truly.
