Lot - part of Parcel 2300, Section 6, T117, R23, Orono, Minnesota Dear Mr. Primus: Enclosed are drawings and specifications for an on-land sew age treatment system for the above referenced site. On June 9 and 10, 1977 percolation tests were conducted on the above mentioned property at the location described in the Figure 1 of the enclosed drawings. Testing consisted of one soil boring to a depth of six feet. Soils encountered in the soil boring were black loam over brown clay over sandy brown clay over brotm clay. No groundwater was observed in the soil boring after 24 hours. The percolation for the test holes averaged 36 minutes per inch. Stated percolation rates are those occurring at the location shown, and no guarantee is In^lied or expressed that these conditions exist for the entire proposed drainfield area. If we can be of further assistance please adyise. Sincerely, EUGENE A. HICKOK AND ASSOCIATES Philip Piifs ^ PP/lg Enclosure cc H. LEE PRIMUS LOT - PART OF PARCEL 2300, SECTION 6, T117, R23 ORONO, MINNESOTA SEPTIC TANK -It is recommended that the system include two septic tanks in series (each at least 1000 gallons capacity.) Any new septic tanks shall be installed in accordance with Village Code. DOSING CHAMBER -One 250 gallon capacity dosing chcuober down stream from the septic tank or tanks mem- ufactured cuid installed in compliance with Village Code, including a siphon or pump with a disch2u:ge rate between 25 and 45 gpm. (The purpose of the dosing chamber is to deliver septic effluent to the drainfield in periodic doses, rather than in smaller, more frequent applications.) See Figure 2 for location. DRAINFIELD -For a percolation rate of 36 minutes per inch Village Code requires a minimum of 270 square feet effective drainfield area for each bedroom. Proposed total effective drainfield area is 900 square feet. Proposed drainfield trench bottom width is three (3) feet requiring 300 lineal feet of drainfield line. The system is to include three (3) 100 foot lines where shown on Figure 2., These lines are to be laid flat along existing contours. The lines are to be placed ten (10) feet from trees, where necessary trees shall be removed. Effluent is to be carried by a solid 6-inch diameter, plastic pipe directly to the drain- field pipes. All elbows and connecting pipes are solid, 6-inch diameter pipe. The end of each run of drainfield line is capped. Trench details showing materials and install ation are shown in Figure 3. Figures 1 through 3, by reference, are made part of these specifications. MAINTENANCE SUGGESTIONS SEPTIC TANK - DOSING CHAMBER - Inspect the tank annually and have the tank cleaned when the scum is 3 inches or less above the outlet baffle and/or when the sludge level is 8 inches or less below the outlet baffle. If a dosing siphon is installed» the avucillary vent should be cleaned annually. If pumps are used in the dosing chamber, the manufacturers maintenance schedule that comes with the punqp should be followed . 11 HoUTU I 1 ■DO-—• 71 — V I / i At4>^ E A HICKOK & ASSOCIATES HYDROLOGISTS - ENGINEERS MINNEAPOLIS MINNESOTA \ TRENCHncnwn NATURAL SOIL COVER 6** DIAMETER PERFORATED PLASTIC PIPE-LAID FLAT ANO" LEVEL • ' ? f UNTREATED BUILDING PAPER ^ TO 3“ WASHED GRAVEL 4b • h-3#^ TRENCH SECTION .NATURAL SOIL COVER ▼ crn • ^ lo**UNTREATED BUILDING PAPER i 6“ DIAMETER - -4"T0 3‘* WASHED GRAVEL E A HICKOX & ASSOCIATES HYDROLOGISTS - ENGIN2ERS MINNEAPOLIS MINNESOTA
