Linda,
The property addressed 1200 Bracketts Point Road is located in the LR-1A zonindistrict. The keeping of chickens in this
district requires a city council approved conditional use permit. See City Code Section 78-303(3)(b). However, according
to the Hennepin County website, your property is only slightly over one acre in size and is not large enough to
accommodate chickens because the code requires one acre for the dwelling and one acre for each animal unit.

Subject: Backyard Hens
Good afternoon,
My husband would like to purchase one of those darling little hen houses and raise 3 or 4 hens
for his fresh eggs, which we would locate in our backyard.
Would you please let us know what procedure we will need to follow. We would like to work on
this in the next 30 days.
Thank you...Linda Noble
