CITY of ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY ;COUNCIL, <br />NO. 6200 <br />A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT <br />FOR THE CRYSTAL BAY POST OFFICE <br />WHEREAS, the Markville Post Office was established in 1889 by Peter <br />Mark and the name was changed to Crystal Bay Post Office in 1906; and <br />WHEREAS, in 1955 Orono Village was incorporated, encompassing all <br />the remaining parts of the township including the settlements of Navarre, Crystal <br />Bay; Orono, Stubbs Bay, and Bederwood; and. <br />WHEREAS, the current Post Office building was constructed around <br />1960 and was purchased by the City in 1979; and <br />WHEREAS, the Crystal Bay Post Office has been a continued presence <br />throughout Orono history and will remain indefinitely as the Crystal Bay Post <br />Office; and <br />WHEREAS, the planning goals in Orono include maintaining our local <br />character and identity, preserving historically significant buildings and settings, <br />and maintaining our rural small town vitality. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City <br />of Orono does hereby confirm its. support for the continued operation of the <br />Crystal Bay Post Office. <br />Adopted by the City Council of Orono, Minnesota at a regular meeting <br />held this 14' day of January, 2013. <br />ATTEST: <br />, iQ _ <br />Jes 'ca Loftus, i A strator Lili Tod McMillan, Mayor <br />
