JAMES L. MURPHY
FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AS
CITY COUNCIL MEMBER
RESOLUTION NO. 6016
WHEREAS, James L. Murphy has served this community with
distinction for many years in numerous capacities including almost nine years as a
member of the City Council and as Mayor Pro Tem from 2007 through 2010; and
WHEREAS, he has served as the Highway 12 Official City
Representative, and has served on various committees including the Long
Lake/Orono Consolidation Study Committee, Long Lake Fire Station Joint
Construction Committee, Highway 12 Design Review Committee, Highway 12
Aesthetic Design Review Committee, Long Lake/Orono Joint Fire Station
Construction Committee, Long Lake Fire Commission, Representative to Mound
Fire Department, Navarre Fire Station Construction Committee, Dakota Rail Trail
Committee, Big Island Committee, and Highway 12 Turnback Committee; and
WHEREAS, his years of service have been marked by exemplary
dedication to the best interests of the community; and
WHEREAS, he has earned the admiration and high regard of those with
whom he has worked; and
WHEREAS, the performance of his duties and responsibilities as a
member of the City Council has been characterized by excellent and constructive
contributions to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the
City of Orono does hereby express its sincere appreciation and thanks to James L.
Murphy for his distinguished service to the community and does also highly
commend him for the manner in which he has carried out his duties and
responsibilities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council does hereby
extend to James L. Murphy best wishes for continued success in his future
endeavors.
Adopted by the City Council of Orono, Minnesota at a regular meeting
held this l Oth day of January, 2011.
