Re; Septic System Repa.lrs and Old Well On Site
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Sjoberg:
Carl Widmer expressed to me his concern over the old 3”-4" well
located north of your home and somewhat adjacent to the area proposed
for your new septic system. I made an inspection of the site on
Wednesday, August 24, 1983. In my opinion, this well does not pose
any major problems which will change the location of your proposed
system. However, it appears it will be necessary to have this well
properly abandoned by a State Licensed Well Driller. "Proper
abandonment" includes pumping ceme..t or bentonite grout down the
well casing, cutting off the casing below grade and filling in
the well pit, so that no surface water inflow into the well can
occur. Whichever well driller you have do the . indonment should
call either me or Building Official Tom Jacobs for inspection while
the work is being done. Once the well is abandoned, work on the
new septic system can commence.
I find I do not have a copy of your soil testing report and septic
system design proposal in the City files - 1 would appreciate if
you could send or drop off a copy. Please call me if you have any
questions or if I can be of further help in your completion of the
new system this fall.
Sincerely, y
Michael P. Gaff^n
