While head id his own mechanical en>;i- neering (iim, Luiuie speciali/ed in efficient and effective heat ing system designs for residential and commercial buildings Here he discmered a significant need. There was a strong demand for a central wood heatmg system that had the com fort, convenience, safety, low (Pollution and eff'ciencies of heat ing systems utilizing cc»nventional fuels Then fore, Lunde, being a pioneer in spirit, committed his resc»imes to the development id just such a technology Hetore becoming president o’ c ..AKN, Incorporated, Lunde's cart el was distinguished by his work in new product ctevelop- mc’nt at Dupont Corjioration and as l^irecto: of KescMrch and Development at Sunsource Systems C orporation The Spirit of Product Innovation C'lAKN, Incorporated was formed in I^1^3 to design tind produce affordable energy systems. The research inspired by Luiufe in 1*^70, and patented ir. 1*^83, has result<*d in the pre^d- ucts that he sought to fulfill the ' need." Today, GARN, IcKated in St Paul, Minnesota, prinJiices the Wood/l.lectrie Heat Stor age System and the Electric Heat Storage System, two sys tems unsurpassed for comfi>rl, • onvenience and efficiency But It doesn't stop there The commitment to research and development at GARN never ends because of our dedication to fulfill consumer needs with products that meet stringent equality standards for product performance, low pollution and safety. The Spirit of Business Innovation GARN, Incorporated has a commitment to market products which will help Americans make the best use of our country's natural resources. Solutions to future energy needs must inte*- grate the use of all forms of energy Suppc>rt for these ideas came from Apache Corjx»ration, a major U S oil and gas expio* raticMi company. In 1^84, Apache will invest approximately $I million dollars to enable CiARN to develop and market its prciducts. Apache believes C»ARN has "... develoj'K'd an important and unique approach to our country's energy needs . . " CiARN's prcKlucts use conventional heating, ventilating and air conditioning (FA’AC) materials and practices, thus allowing us to use HVAC dealer/installers located throughout the country to do our installation and service work. UIS Oumrr I heated my hi»use with a vvchk I furnace before I purchased the CARN system, but I was liHtking for something which was mor • convenient and safe I have friends at the Fire Department, and it seems they are always going to fires caused by wtmd heating systems. The CARN system makes me feel very safe. Everything is in the garage. All I do is pump hot water into the house. It is as clean as any other conventional fuel, and I have noticed the house is not as dry in the winter iu*w With stored heal I never have ti» worry about heating my home when I am gone during the day. I am giving to hcok up the off-peak heating elements this winter to make the system even more convenient. I chose off-peak electric heat because it is clearly superior to resistance electric in cost; actually, it is less than half. I chose the CARN electric heat storage system because heat stored in water is flexible and efficient both in collection and distribution. 1 wanted radiant floor heating with some si»lar, and all this could be done wit). CARNs product. It is a very simple concept and has been reliable and maintenance free. WiUrr Fort si (Outdoor Camp ami Lnviroumrfiial Cenirti. Marine on St. Cfoil. Minufyoia. VV/fff5 Comnifrtnil User C/rn Citllifn, fantitus Mamirnamr Suprmsor The Wilder Foundation's camp has an abundance of wood and with proper forest management, we will never run out of fuel. After IcHiking at all other wood heating options, the Board of Directors chose o of the CARN wiHid heat storage systems over the last four years. Three small commeicial units are placed in dormitories and three large com mercial units are placid together in one central heating building. The hot water stored in this building is pipi'd underground to heat 4 larger buildings which together total over 20,000 square feet. Having the units all in one building is great. It is much cheaper and requires less labor. The GARN Guarantee of Quality GARN. Incorporated guarantees the quality, integrity and safety of each and every one of its units. If for any reason you are not satisfied with the performance of your Wood/Electric Heat Storage System or Electric Heat Storage System, please contact your dealer. A five year limited warranty exists on the storage system and a three year limited warranty on the combustion liner. Refer to complete warranty statement. Innovators in affordable energy systems. GARN, tncorporated 384 West County Road D St Paut, Minnesota 55112 672-633-7357 The CARN units are very efficient and burn both green and dry wood well. You could burn a freshly cut tree if you started it with kindling. W'e have found the storage to be a real convenience because each unit does not have to be watched at night.
