A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO
DAVID MAASS
FOR DONATING HIS TIME AND TALENTS
IN UPDATING THE CITY LOGO
RESOLUTION NO. 6197
WHEREAS,the City of Orono needed to update its logo; and
WHEREAS,Mayor McMillan contacted Orono resident and wildlife artist David
Maass, whose career as a wildlife artist spans five decades of inspiring images of
waterfowl and upland game birds, including winning two Federal Duck Stamp
competitions; and
WHEREAS,David Maass, who had previously donated one of his prints entitled
"Lake Minnetonka-Buffleheads" for display in the Council Chambers, offered to work on
an updated design for the logo; and
WHEREAS, David Maass has designed a logo that expresses Orono's philosophy
to protect and preserve its natural resources and incorporates the wildlife and rustic nature
of Orono that its citizens hold so dear; and
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED, that the Orono City Council, staff
and residents wish to extend their utmost appreciation and gratitude to David for donating
his time and award-winning talent to create a logo that symbolizes the character of Orono.
Adopted by the City Council of Orono, Minnesota at a regular meeting held this
14th day of January 2013.
