Street Vacation
We have revie%#ed the application of Mr. Matson to vacate
Wallace Avenue between Bay View Place and the rear of his lots.
This street is not presently open and is being used as a
part of Mr. Matson's yard now. We see no need for this street
as the land is presently being used; however, we do not see any
particular advantage to the City by the vacating of this street.
It is presently being used by the property owner as if it were
his own property, and there is certainly no immediate threat of
the road being opened. However, with the vacation of the street
the ownership passes to the adjacent property owners, and if this
property were ever needed for roads, utilities, paths, etc., the
City %rould have to repurchase the property. We can see no
advantage to the City to vacate the street at this time and,
therefore, recommend denial of this vacation request.
