City Council Work Session

ROLL CALL
City Council members present: Mayor Dennis Walsh, City Council Members Alisa Benson, Richard
Crosby, Matt Johnson, Maria Veach.
Staff present: Community Development Director Laura Oakden, Finance Director Maggie Jin,
Accountant Anne Hentges, and City Clerk Christine Lusian.
GENERAL FUND BUDGET AND LEVY
Finance Director Jin introduced the draft budget and tax levy information for 2025. Jin pointed
out that the Orono tax rate is one of the lowest in the county and half of the county average.
Discussion included notable revenue and expenditure changes. Next steps in developing the
budget will be enterprise and internal service funds early-August with department heads. Budget
committee meets mid-August. Council will review enterprise budget at its second work session
in August and preliminary levy in September.
