City Council Work Session

ROLL CALL
City Council members present: Mayor Dennis Walsh, City Council Members Richard Crosby, Matt
Johnson, Maria Veach.
Staff present: City Administrator/Engineer Adam Edwards, Finance Director Maggie Jin,
Accountant Anne Hentges, and City Clerk Christine Lusian.
PRELIMINARY BUDGET AND LEVY
Finance Director Jin introduced the goal setting and priorities step of preliminary budget and
levy and the impacts being inflation, taxable market value, adjusted net tax capacity, wages,
benefits, assessing services, and fire department. Jin noted that the tax rate has remained stable
the last five years and is ten percent lower than the average Minnesota city. Next steps in the
process is meetings with each department head the week of June 24, budget committee meets
July 2, and city council work session again on July 22.
