� A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A P�ERITORIOUS SERVICE
AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE VILLAGE OF ORONO
WHEREAS, the Village of Orono has individuals who con-
tribute outstanding service to the community to help achieve basic
goals that enhance and perpetuate the "quality of life" for the
residents of Orono; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Orono has no formal procedure for
recognizing such service and is desirous of rewarding citizen
contribution of an outstanding nature; and
WHEREAS, Robert L. Searles has identified, clarified and
drafted into meaningful legislation the basic goals of the Village
of Orono that enhance and perpetuate the "quality of life" within
Orono; and
WHEREAS, Robert L. Searles has given outstanding service
to the Village of Orono during the past 22 years having served as
Mayor, Councilman, Planning Commission Chairman, Planning Commission
Member, Director and Chairman of the Lake Minnetonka Conservation
District; and
� WHEREAS the Village of Orono desires to recognize the
significant contribution Robert L. Searles has made to the over-all
welfare of Orono.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOVLED that a Meritorious Service
Award be hereby established; and
FURTHERMORE, the name of this award shall be the Robert L.
Searles Meritorious Service Award in honor of one who best exemplifies
the quality of service the Village of Orono wishes to reward; and
FURTHERMORE, the first recipient of this award shall be
Robert L. Searles.
Adopted by the Village Council of the Village of Orono,
A4innesota at its regular meeting held December 13, 1976.
