ORDINANCE NO. 151, THIRD SERIES
CITY OF ORONO
HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORONO MUNICIPAL CODE
BY AMENDING SECTION 86-70
REGARDING EXPIRATION OF BUILDING PERMITS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF ORONO ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Section 86-70 of the City of Orono Municipal Code is hereby amended
by adding and deleting text within Sections 86-70(a, b, and c) follows:
“Sec. 86-70. Permit Expiration.
(a) Any building permit issued by the city abandoned, withdrawn, or expired shall be
null and void and shall require issuance of a new permit and payment of applicable
fees prior to completion of the work.
(b) Notwithstanding continuing or ongoing work nor issuance of new or extended
permits, all exterior work authorized by a building permit issued in accordance with
the State Building Code shall be completed within twelve (12) months following
issuance of the building permit. In addition, no land shall remain disturbed and
exposed without established grass or other ground cover according to the approved
grading and landscaping plans for the same 12 month period.
(c) Failure to complete such exterior construction shall result in the expiration of the
existing permit.
This does not release the permittee from making appropriate life safety corrections nor
negate other building code requirements.”
SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon
its passage and publication.
ADOPTED this 27th day of July, 2015 on a vote of 5 ayes and 0 nays by the City
Council of Orono, Minnesota.
