AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
ORONO MUNICIPAL ZONING CODE SECTION 78-1379
REGARDING WIND ENERGY CONVERSION SYSTEMS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, on April 13, 2015, Ordinance No. 142, Third
Series, was adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that, because of the lengthy nature of Ordinance No.
142, Third Series, the following summary of the ordinance has been prepared for publication.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the ordinance adopted by the Council amends
Chapter 78 of the Orono City Code. This ordinance amends the Orono Zoning Code Sections
78-1379(c)(4) by deleting and adding certain definitions regarding Wind Energy Conversion
Systems. Additionally, this ordinance amends Section 78-1379(f) be eliminating the prohibition
on Wind Energy Conversion Systems and adding standards for the location, design, installation
and use of Small Wind Energy Conversion Systems (SWECS) in specified residential,
commercial and industrial zoning districts. This ordinance also repeals the moratorium enacted
by the City Council via Interim Ordinance No. 125, Third Series on October 27, 2014 which
temporarily prohibited SWECS.
A printed copy of the complete ordinance is available for inspection by any person during
the City's regular office hours.
ADOPTED this 13th day of April, 2015 on a vote of 3 ayes and 1 nay by the City Council
of Orono, Minnesota.
APPROVED for publication by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota, this
