SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NO. THIRD SERIES ORDINANCE NO 136 , THIRD SERIES AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 14 OF THE ORONO MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING SECTION 14-142 REGARDING AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING AN ORDINANCE FOR PROTECTING THE CITY'S WELLHEADS BY PROHIBITING NEW PRIVATE WELLS WHERE PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY IS AVAILABLE THE CITY COUNCIL OF ORONO ORDAINS: SECTION 1. Orono Municipal Code Section 14-142 regarding Wellhead Protection - New Private Wells Prohibited is hereby adopted to read that the owners of all buildings where a public water supply is available, or becomes available, shall connect the buildings to the public water supply, subject to the certain conditions and all existing private wells no longer in use shall be sealed by a licensed well contractor according to the Rules of the Minnesota Department of Health. SECTION 2. establishes that a summary of this Ordinance shall be published in THE PIONEER and THE LAKER newspapers and that the Ordinance in its entirety shall be effective upon approval and publication of the Summary Ordinance. This Summary Ordinance is an abbreviated summary of Ordinance No. 136 , Third Series. A printed copy of Ordinance No. 136Third Series in its entirety is available for inspection by any person at the office of the City Clerk during regular office hours. This ordinance becomes effective immediately upon publication. ADOPTED this 9th day of February, 2015 on a vote of 3 ayes and 2 nays by the City Council of Orono, Minnesota.
