Re: Lakeshore Alteration and Fill
Dear Mr. Werner:
I understand from the City Administrator that you have questions
regarding improvement of your lakeshore. I believe that I also
discussed this with you last summer.
There has been flooding and erosion caused by the high water last
year and by the low elevation of your property and your neighbor's
property. Any changes to your property must not adversely affect
your neighbor's property. Any proposed changes must be reviewed
by the City, the Watershed District and the State Department of
Natural Resources.
If your desire is limited to placing rock rip rap along the shore,
you should prepare a sketch and contact the building inspector and
the Watershed District Engineer. The City rip rap permit is a
routine permit which is normally issued on the spot. Cost is $15.00.
If you desire to do additional filling of your lot, you must prepare
detailed engineering plans and complete the attached application for
a conditional use permit. This will be reviewed according to the
standards contained in the attached exerpts from the Flood Plain
Regulation Ordinance.
