THE; F,ilfr: AT LONG L,10.
On October 2.0-29, 1902 and November 13-14, 1002 six lots
were tested to determine wh,,t typo or drp.inCield would be
poesll:le on ouch or tl,e loth. Throe Percolation holes were
to--tod on each lot and one soil boring,. .t the time a house 1
Lo to ba eonntructed, come additional testing will be needed
but the tasting uons now Kiveo a very good indication what
tyre of Bystn„ c,:n be used on the primary drainfield site. .
Tho vercolution holes were dug 6 inchua in diwneter to
t1,e 112 inch depth while the Boil borings were dug 6 Inches
In diameter to tho 4 foot depth and 3 inches in diameter to
the remal •ging doptl,.
An , .3ruge porcolation rato of 27.4 minutes per inch on
lot 2 with no high water table would allow a standard system.
Lots 12 and 13 are to be combined and had hn average rate of
20.7 minutuo per inch but bocuuae of a poasiblo high water
table, a shallow trench oyntom should be uaad. Lots 16 and 17
were also combined and had an average rate of 25.0 minutes
per inch with no high water table which would allow a stand-
ard system. Lnt 10 had a lot of block loam with oome hoavy,
wet clay 00110 underneath and had an average percolation rate
0f 110.7 minuto0 per inch. A shlillow trench 0yatem will be
needed with black loam brought over the trenches for cover.
Also, it would be I,olpfull if dome grading wBa done or a pond
made to keop the runoff water to the north side of the lower
flut area and away from the drainfield arou.
-2 -
Lot 13 had an uverago porcolation rote of 30.2 minutes
per inch. Although a standard system can be used, the trench-
es should be an,er than A feet deep In the natur„1 st1L
Lot 24 has an average rate of $0.0 minutes per inch which 13
close to the limit of GO for a standard system. Thusm a stun-
durd system is likely u1no ugi, a fourth hole for the primary
site will need to be tested lntor i,nd depending on it's rnto
n mound system could be required. Also, if the house is pos-
iotioncd ouch that another area has to be tested, the rates ,
could vary.
