Box 66 Orono, MN 55356 Crystal Bay, MN 55323.0066 Re: Creekside In Orono -Municipal Utilities Status Dear Dean: The Creekside In Orono properly is served by a municipal sewer lateral line that is/will be owned and maintained by the City of Orono and which discharges to a City of Long Lake lift station. Similarly, Creekside is served by a municipal water main that is/will be owned and maintained by the City of Orono but which extends from the City of Long Lake water system. The cost of construction of the sewer and water lines and their connections to the Long Lake systems has been borne by the prior developer of Creekside, Water Street Homes. According to Orono Public Works Supervisor Scott Oberaigner, the sewer and water systems are physically ready for individual home connections, except that the videotape of the re -televising of the sewer line to confirm it has been properly cleaned out has not been submitted. This was originally done by Widmer Brothers. If that tape is not submitted, the cost of re -televising would likely be $12004500. Long Lake City Administrator Terry Post has copied me on his recent email to Long Lake Public Works Director Main Wurzer questioning whether there is some restoration work remaining to be completed at Apple Glen Road in Long Lake. I have not received a reply as of this writing, but would encourage you to contact Long Lake directly do determine whether there is any work they consider to be incomplete that you would be responsible for. The City of Orono did not charge any sewer or water connection (local SAC/WAC) fees to the original developer, and none will be due for the 7 lots in Creekside. Because the sewer and water mains tie directly into the Long Lake systems, the City of Long Lake charged connection fees as follows: Water Tap fee per unit $1600; Water Hookup fee per unit $1100; Sewer Tap fee per unit $1500; and Sewer Hookup fee per unit $1200; for a total of $5400 per unit. The original developer of Creekside (Henry Lazmarz) paid the City of Long Lake for his seven lots the amount of $37,800 via check #10855 on 2-14-05. A recent email fiom Terry Post confirms that all connection fees to Long Lake for this development have been paid. Orono will read the water meters on a quarterly basis and bill the residents for usage charges on a quarterly basis. We are aware that Long Lake may wish to have some level of direct involvement in the meter reading and billing process - that is an issue that the two cities have yet to resolve. The cities of Orono and Long Lake have been discussing an update/revision of existing sewer and water agreements for a number of years. The eventual result of these discussions is not expected to have any impact on your ability to connect to and use the sewer and water systems. Please contact me at 952-249-4622 if you have further questions. Sincerely, Michael P. Gaffron Asst.
