CONSULTING ENGINEER April 11, 1984 Painter's Creek Development Criporation c/o Ron Bastyr and Associates, Inc. 15500 Wayzata Blvd. Wayzata, MN 55391 RE: Subsurface Exploration and Percolation Testinq at the Proposed Painter's Creek Development Site in Orono, Minnesota Gentlemen: This report presents the results of supplementary test pits and percolation tests conducted for the proposed Painter's Creek D-1velopment in Orono, Minnesota. Since the reporting of the soil tests dated December 9, 1983, the number of lots planned for -this site was reduced from twenty to ten. Soil testing was requested by the site planner and the City of Orono in the general area of lot 9, as well as additional testing in other areas. The testing was conducted in a similar manner as that described in the soil report dated December 9 The method of locating tests and test notation was also the same as shown in the earlier report. Since the terrain is rolling, a curtain drain is advised to be included in the drainfield design in order to intercept runoff water from entering the drainfield area. This recommendation was discussed with the site planner. The summary also indicates a relatively fast percolation rate for the fine-grained soils at this site. It should be noted that percolation rates do vary as dependent on the season, precipitation, and general soil conditions. Because soil conditions and permeability characteristics are variable across the site, it is recommended that the stakes defining the drainfield areas be surveyed.
