As you may know, in this 5 acre zoning district, Orono Code Standards recommend that 10,000 square feet of suitable area be set aside for drainfield use. -he attoched sketch shows that, excluding a minimum 50' well setback ar,d 10' property line setback, much less than 10,000 square feet is available even without drivewav changes. Driveway excavation would only decrease this small area, and since Orono has no plans to provide sewers t) this location, any further encroachment on possible drain - field area is unwise. As I see it, 2 reasonable options exist. First the City has no objection to continuing the existing access by easement; Secondly, a 30' platted alley adjacent to and west of the property might provide an access to Bayside Road allowing use of the garage as it exists. The City Council would have to approve a formal application for your use of this alley as an access and major excavation would be needed. I would also recommend that the 4 lots involved be combined for tax purposes, since they are under common ownership, and considered as a single building site. If you have further questions on this, please contact Zoning Administrator Jeanne Mabusth at 473-7357. Sincerely,, Michael P.
