Regular Meeting of the Planning Commission,
July 21, 1969
The Planning Commission met on the above
date with the following members present:
Bartig, Dongoske, McCarthy, and 3tubbs
representing the Council. Absent:
Chairman Russell, Nicholls, and O'Malley.
7:30 P.M.
. Steve Huss, representing the Minnetonka
, / Power Squadron, explained the purpose of
^ the squadron and showed plans for the
dredging and filling they wish to do on
the prooerty, presently owned by the
Doublewear Shoe Company. The panel
questioned Mr. Huss regarding sanitary
facilities, and marina usage. Mr. Huss
stated that they would go along with all
Village regulations as to the above.
Members recommended that marina usage be
studied further.
MINNETONKA POWER SQUADRON
John Lambin represented the Church of the
Open Door, and showed site plans of a
proposed addition to the church along with
long range plans for a new church incorporating
the old. The plan also showed proposed
parking areas. Since our present tax records
show a separation of church property from
the Char-Lynn Foundation property and the
church would be spilling into property
presently listed under the latter, members
asked questions as to the property status.
Mr. Lambin cxnlained that the entire property
is now listed under the name of Andromeda
Foundation.
Members recommended that approval be granted.
CHURCH OF THE OPEN DOOR
Members recommended that the garage setback
variance from the required 30’ front to 19*
and the required 10* sideyard setback to 5*
for Dr. John Alicnburg, 1720 Shadywood Road,
be approved.

Mr. Johnson did not appear as his application
stated he wished to do, so the matter was
tabled.

at that site explaining they would be one-,
and two’bedroom units. In the absence of
any building plans, the gentlemen representing
Mr. Olin merely asked whether the members
were favorably or unfavorably impressed
by the land usage being applied for and were
assured the members were favorable.

Two members of the Olson Concrete Company,
representing the Tonka West Development
Company, were present to show plans for a
proposed office building at 2475 Shadywood
Road, Tr. B, RLS 88, consisting of approximately
one acre for the purpose of office rental.
^fembers recommended approval if all phases
of the code were met.

Nr. Everett Geyen represented the G. 8 S.
Cabinet Shop in showing plans for expansion
for his business at 3599 Shoreline Drive.
Members recommended approval of the usage
of Lots 11-12, Block 7. Navarre, presently
in a R-ID zone, as a parking lot under a
granted variance in lieu of rezoning as
requested, ftembers also recommended approval
of the dxpansion of his building to adjacent
Lot 15, Block 7, Navarre Heights, provided
the usage was a permitted commercial use and
not expansion of the cabinet shop which
requires an "I” zoning.

Members recommended disapproval of the permit
application of Zak's Resort, 3995 North Shore
Drive, for the restoration of a building
partially wrecked, due to the fact the
building did not meet the setback requirements.
Members approved the variance for John
Gunarsrud, 465 Park Lane, in lot size and
frontage requirements, so that the lot can
be built on when Lots I 8 2, Block 5,
Minnetonka Summit Park nre combined f
building lot, with the provision that »*unicipal
sewer be hooked on to when provided.
Members recommended approvol of the garage
setback variance from 35* to 21* in front
and from 10* to 3* on the side for Roger
Mattson, 1074 Loma Linda Avenue.
