Subject: Soil Borings for Big Island
Lake Minnetonka

:ntlemen:
we were authorized to perform a geotechnical investigation
if your property on Big Island in Lake Minnetonka. The purpose
of the investigation was to gather information to assist in the
evaluation of soil and ground water conditions relative to
foundation suppoi.t. Four hand auger borings were conducted on
the site.
The soil borings encountered a fine to coarse sand with much
gravel in all four holes. The material is very homogeneous below
the upper half -foot to one -foot layer of sod and topsoil. Ground
water was encountered at 1 -1/2 -foot to 2 feet below existing
grade across the site.
The boring locations are provided on the attached map. Two
borings were done on each of the propossd structures. The logs
of the borings indicating the soil types encountered are
enclosed. soil conditions between borings may vary from our
observation. Soil identification was performed using ASTM D:2488
(visual -manual procedure). A chart summarizing the
classification criteria is also enclosed. No exploration program
can fully disclose all sub -surface conditions. If there are
changes in the scope of the project, please contact us so that we
may review our recommendations and modify them, if necessary.

The site plan indicates two house lots will be developed on
the site. The soil conditions on each building site should be
evaluated by a competent soils engineer at the time of basement
excavation.
