Dear Mr. Scheller,
Thank you for your letter and the Land -Use Application pertaining
to our plans for dredging and fill at dig Island, Lake Minnetonka.
The Minnetonka Pover Squadron is negotiating to purchase a certain
Portion of land on the south shore directly adjacent to the north -
south channel. As part of the procurement agreement we would like
to dredge a channel east -west off the main channel. The dirt from
this dredging will be used to fill a low section on our Property
to make it useable recreational area. The attached sketch which
was submitted with our request to the Minnesota Conservation De-
partment shows the appriximate channel openings.
We have completed your Land -Use Application in the areas you in-
dicated. We also enclose a copy of our application to the Minne-
sota Conservation Department, File Nr. P.A. 69-589, for further
reference. A check for $30.00, enclosed, covers the fee for a
conditional use permit.
We will be pleased to meet with you at your meeting on July 14 to
explain our plans in greater detail. Our primary objective is to
improve and develop the recreational use of our portion of dig
Island. Our squadron is dedicated to the elements of safe boating
through education. We provide safe boating classes to the general
public and participate in safe boating activities on the lake. We
plan to continue our efforts to promote safe boating, assist in
the fight on water Pollution, and generally enhance the recrea-
tional aspects of Lake Minnetonka.
