VILLAGE OF ORONO <br />Special Meeting of the Planning Commission. <br />July 12, 1972 * <br />Tiie Planning Coramis.*:lon met on the above <br />date with the following members present: <br />Chairman Poisson, Elliott, Kullberg, Stanke, <br />and Southworth. Present from the Park <br />Commission: Chairman 0gland, Ha11owe11 and <br />Stanke. Tom Loucks from Brauer fi Associates. <br />Absent: Gasch, Hays, Niciiolls, Ryerse, <br />Searles, and Van Nest. <br />7:30 P.M. <br />Poisson opened the meeting by stating the <br />meeting of July 17, 1972 at 7:30 P.I. <br />would be a joint meeting with the Park <br />Commission and Village Council. <br />JOINT MEETING <br />July 17, 1972 <br />Poisson said he had spoken to Bonnie Lake <br />and she nad promised to get publicity on <br />the comprehensive plan in both the Wayzata <br />and Mound Sun Newspapers. <br />PUBLICITY <br />© <br />Tom Loucks spoke to members present. In the <br />excnange between members and ilr. Loucks, it <br />MSLS brought out: <br />1. Phase I was u survey analysis <br />2. Phase II will be a resident attitude analysis <br />3. During the Phase II study, there will bo <br />tnree meetings with residents, each with <br />different exposures. <br />4. Tne tentative dates for these three <br />meetings would be on three Wednesdays in <br />Septeraber--namely, the 13tii, 20th, and 27th. <br />5. It would be better to have the speakers <br />at these meetings use the "pro and con" <br />format than the "adversary attack". <br />6. The three meetings would nave informative <br />speakers and discussion on the following: <br />a. Metro Government - How does Orono fit <br />into this? <br />b. Land use zoning - economics and concern <br />c. The environment and open spaces. This <br />would include transportation; although <br />this could also be related to land use. <br />7. The format for these three meetings would <br />consist of each meeting having two speakers <br />on two different subjects. To keep them <br />interesting, they would be limited to 15 or <br />20 minutes. This would be followed by 15 or <br />20 minute question and answer session <br />PLANNER <br />(Continued)
