Staff Review and Summary:
The project involves the installation of a 12 inch culvert under Bayside Road in the City of Orono.
The project is locates; at 3500 Bayside Road and is within Subwatershed (Tanning Unit U- 10,
L%1-38. The purpose of this projact is to drain water off of an existing steep driveway. Initially
the City of O -ono suggested that the applicant stormsewer the excess water undergrc,und to an
existing storm drain and culvert. It was determined that such a stormsewer would freeze in the
,•-iter which would only create hazardous conditions at the bottom of the steep driveway.
Therefore, the installation of a new catch basin/manhole and stormsewer at the bottom of the
driveway was determined to be a better solution.
Recommendations:
Approval pending receipt and staff approval of
1 Stormsewer outfall design.
A maintenance agreement for the proposed catch basin/manhole, which spec.:ies the
methods, schedule, and responsible parties for maintenance.
Project Review Status by Other Governmental Units:
There is no need for a formal city pemat per Mike Gaffon of the City of Orono.
