1. Percolation Rate, Type of System.
10.7 minutes per inch for the primary site (holes 1-4). Shallow Trench System.
2. Proposed Flow Rate.
6 bedrooms @ 150 G.P.D. = 900 G.P.D.
3. Soil Treatment Area Required.
i,67 percolation rate factor x 900 G.P.D. = 1500 Sq. Ft.
4. Size and Number of Trenches.
5 trenches 3 feet wide and 100 feet long =1500 Sq. Ft. These trenches would
be spaced 7.5 feet apart center to center and be no deeper than 1.5 feet deep
in the natural soil.
5. Drainfield Rock Needed.
56 cubic yds. of rock is needed to have 6 inches under and 2 inches over a 4
inch distribution pipe.
6. Septic Tanks.
Two septic tanks each of 1000 gallons are needed. In addition, if the house
is not kept high enough, a third pumping tank and pump would be needed to
reach the drainfield area.
7. Additional Information.
Grading must be done to divert runoff water away from the drainfield trenches.
The use of an interceptor draintile could also be used. All construction traf
fic must be kept off both drainfield sites and no grading is allowable in ei
ther area. All construction and materials must adhere to the provisions of
the city of Orono.
