A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE SHARED SEWER LINE
CARRYING FLOWS FROM MEDINA, ORONO, AND LONG LAKE
BE TAKEN OVER BY MCES AS A METRO INTERCEPTOR
WHEREAS, the Cities of Orono and Medina share a sewer trunk line that carries sewer
flows to the MCES metering station adjacent to Industrial Boulevard in Long Lake; and
WHEREAS, these Orono and Medina sewer flows then combine with Long Lake sewer
flows in a shared sewer line located along Industrial Boulevard, and a short distance along
Willow Drive. These sewer flows from Medina, Orono and Long Lake then enter an MCES
interceptor; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of MCES sewer interceptors is to carry sewer flows from
multiple cities; and
WHEREAS, the sewer line that carries sewer flows from Medina, Orono, and Long Lake
matches the purpose of MCES sewer interceptors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Orono
does hereby request that the MCES take over the shared sewer line carrying sewer flows from
Medina, Orono and Long Lake as an MCES interceptor.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, Minnesota, at a regular meeting held
November 26, 2007.
