13. It has been established that the current private residential on -site sewage
disposal systems in this area have created a Problem. Ile are now in t•he
process of having an engineering study made to try to resolve these problems.
An expanded use in the area will result in expanded sewer disposal systems.
14. The area immediately surrounding the Stubbs Bay Marina is zoned Z acre
residential. The area located less than 2 9000 ft , west of the marina is
zoned 5 acre residential. A residence is charged with one sewer charge
both by our standards and Metro waste Commission. A restaurant, however,
is assessed a SAC charge at a ratio of 1 SAC unit per eight seats in the
establishment. This gives some relationship to the extent of sewer
requirements between restaurants and single family dwellings.
Incidentially, the entire parcel on which Stubbs Ray !Marina is located does not exceed
2 acres.

RESOLUTION GRANTING VARIANCE TO GEORGE
HANSON TO ALLOW THE CONSTRUCTION OF A
HOME ON BIG ISLAND IN THE CITY OF ORONO
WHEREAS, George Hanson has applied for a variance to allow
for the construction of a home at a paint within 75 feet of the
setback of Lake Minnetonka on Big Island .in the City of Orono, and
WHEREAS, the City of Orono is concerned about the effect
of the granting of any variance on the watershed and the surround-
ing properties now and in the future,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESQLVED :
The City of Orono grants the variance to the 75 foot setback
and the hardcover regulations for the following reasons:
1. The applicant's home that was closer to the lake than
this proposed home was recently destroyed by a fire.
2.
Because
of
the topography
of the
area,
there is no
other place
where
this
home could be
placed
to be
built.
3. Because of the existence of a platted road bisecting
the property, there is no place that this home could be placed
other than at this present location except at a place even closer
to the shores of .Lake Minnetonka.
4. The applicant agrees to draft at his expense and pro-
vide to the City of Orono an open space easement over the remainder
of his lot and the other platted lots owned by him on the island
and to provide to the City of Orono proof of ownership of the
property and his right to grant such an easement to the City of
Orono.
5. Nothing in this resolution in any way imposes any
liability or a duty to act upon the City of Orono concerning
the development of this property.
6. This variance shall not go into effect until the
applicant fulfills the provisions hereof*
