Dear Mr.Achey:
An inspection of your septic system was conducted on June 4,2001. The septic system is an in-ground trench
system. A summary of the inspection is below.
Sentic Tank Condition
1. Pumpout not needed at this tune.
2. Pumpout needed within one year. (Last Pumpout 8-5-97)
3. Pumpout needed within 48 hours.
4. Inspection risers need to be installed on all tanks. Tanksvere not able to be inspected.
If tanks have not been pumped within l,ast three years, all tanks should be pumped now.
The septic system is non-compliant because it is visibly discharging untreated sewage to the surface of the
ground. This is considered to be an imminent public health threat. This discharge could have adverse effects
to the environment including contamination of yourvell or neighboring wells. City Code requires that the
sstem be repaired or replaced within 90 days upon the date of this letter. The septic system must be replaced
bS September 6, 2001. Until the system is repaired or replaced, the septic tanks must be used as holding tanks
and pumpedvhen full so as not to discharge untreated sewage to the surface.
Enclosed is a list of state licensed septic contractors who regularlyvork in Orono. Also enclosed is an as-built
draing showing the approximate location of the septic system.
Please contact the inspector at the City Offices at 952-249-4600 as soon as possible to discuss your options
regarding this situation.
Respectfully,
