Session Minutes
Monday,April 25,2022

5:00 p.m.
PRESENT: Mayor Dennis Walsh, Council Members Aaron Printup, Victoria Seals, and Matt
Johnson. Staff members present were City Administrator/Engineer Adam Edwards, and City
Clerk Anna Carlson.
1. Fire Department Update
City Administrator/Engineer Adam Edwards began discussion explaining the two options
laid out in the packet. Edwards is looking to Council for feedback on the request for
proposal for fire and rescue department operational study.
Mayor Dennis Walsh noted that phase one will include working with a consultant and
then developing the plan.
Edwards discussed a timeline for planning out the process.
2. Internet Discussion
Edwards began explaining the broadband internet availability options within Orono and
opened discussion with the questions outlined in the memo.
Council Member Victoria Seals expressed concerns with Mediacom and noted it would
be preferred that they provided better service to our residents. She added that is seems
that the city cannot do much about it.
Walsh noted the city doesn't have enough population to get more fiber out here. Walsh
asked staff to reach out to some of the other providers to encourage them to take a look at
our city.
