Cc: Melanie Curtis Subject: 4355 Bayside Road Attachments: admin@ci.orono.mn.us_20130627_142 OO.pdf Hi Kelly, Orono defines the `top of bluff' line as a collection of points on he cross section of a bluff that depict the break point between slopes steeper than 18% and slopes flatter tha 18%. Our method for analyzing bluffs is to plot a cross section of the bluff contour-by-contour, establish the sl pe percentage between each contour line, and establish the top of bluff as the contour point below which the lope becomes (i.e. changes to) greater than 18% and above which the slope for a distance of 50' from that break point stays at 18% or less. This method has consistently resulted in a 'top of bluff line that reasonably atches the visual top of bluff. I have attached an example of a bluff analysis that was prepa d for another site in Orono. Let us know if you have any questions. Christine� i
