Dear Melanie:
We have reviewed the revised plans for the proposed new home construction at 3382 Bayside
Road. The grading plans are dated 8-5-10. We have the following comments with regards to
engineering matters:
• The proposed retaining walls exceed 4 feet in height. Engineered design and details
specific to this site and each wall over 4 feet should be submitted for review.
• The proposed grades shown on the grading plan do not match the house elevations that
were submitted. Theses two plans should agree.
• This project will need Minnehaha Creek Watershed District permits for work in the creek
� bed area. Revisions to this area may be necessary to comply with the permits. We
recommend waiting with final city wetland related review comments until watershed
district approval has been obtained.
. This project will disturb more than 100 CY of material. Sediment and erosion control
information meeting the requirements of Orono's City Code 79-7(c)(2) must be
submitted. The minimum $2000 sediment and erosion control financial security should
be required of the applicant for this permit.

I just spoke with John Sonnek from Charles Cudd about the house at 3382 Bayside Road. He said they have put up silt
fence around the house and would like to move ahead with demo. I told him we are fine with them doing the demo as
long as they're not doing any grading yet. He asked me to let you know we talked.

were submitted. Specifically, the west elevation does not match in the front door area.
The grading plan shows a landing area of 943.0 with the first floor elevation at 950.3.
The west elevation shows the landing area at 947.0+/-, The south elevation shows the
"left" retaining wall in a different location than the grading plan.
• The above referenced grading plan near the house is acceptable from an engineering
standpoint. If further grading plan changes are made to match the two plans, they
should be resubmitted for review. If only the house plans are revised, resubmission for
the house area grading is not needed for an engineering review.
• An application for a Minnehaha Creek Watershed District permit for work in the creek bed

Thanks for passing this along. Yes, this project does require a permit from us. Steve and I have both met the applicant
and his consultants on site, so I believe they are aware they need a permit, but we have not yet received an application.

The applicant has added a boulder wall and bridge along the banks of the creek (see attached). Will this require any
watershed permits? I think you have been on the sight for wetland delineation review/TEP meeting. Let me know if we
