Orono, Hennepin County
To whom it may concern,
I was contacted by Elmer J Peterson Company to design the repair for the failing four-bedroom mound
system at 2445 Woodhaven Drive In the city of Orono. The results of the inspection and design are as follows.
Soil borings indicated that the existing rock bed does not meet the three-foot separation to the periodically
saturated soils. The periodically saturated soils were located at 1.0 feet below existing grade. Therefore, the solution
is to remove the existing rock bed and any of the sand material under the rock that is not clean. Then replace it with
two feet of clean sand and six inches of rock to the proper elevation.
The original soils under the uphill side of the rock bed are at elevation. -101.0. There is currently
approximately 1.0 feet of sand under the rock bed. The bottom of the new rock bed must be placed at the elevation
of 103.1 the bench mark for the elevations is the top of the existing well.
The existing tanks will need to be abandoned. The installer wants to remove the existing tanks and place
the new tanks in the same area. One new 2250 -gallon combination septic tank and 1000 -gallon lift station.
Precaution should be used to make sure the new tanks are greater than 50 feet from the existing well.
The existing west property line must be identified before the work can begin. The systems toe must not
cross the property line.
There is an existing 10x55 foot rock bed to be replaced with a 10x50 rock bed. This will take
approximately 17 cubic yards of rock with six inches of rock.
The clean sand required will be approximately 37 cubic yards. This number may vary due to the fact that.
We don't know how much of the sand will be removed until the rock bed is removed.
The sandy loam cap will require approximately 15 cubic yards.
The laterals will take 144 lineal feet of two-inch pipe with 1l4 -inch perforations. Clean outs must be
installed on the end of the laterals.
The topsoil required will be approximately 30 cubic yards.
The pump curve is 38 gpm @ 20 feet of head pressure.
If you have any questions please call.
Sincerely,
Joseph J. Olson
