There are 2 existing 1000 -gallon tanks that are compliant and can be re -used in the installation of the new septic system. From the outlet of the second existing septic tank, effluent will gravity flow to a proposed 1000 -gallon Brown Precast pump tank. (Model#1 000 -PT) From the pump tank effluent will be pumped by a Gould PE51 effluent pump 110 feet to the northeast. The pump will dose the trench system 4 times per day with a 150 gallon dose volume. The proposed trench system will have 1 end fed distribution boxes and 3 center fed distribution boxes. Each distribution box will have 1 or 2 trench installed from southwest to northeast. Each set of trenches will be installed 6-9 ft on center to the west. There will be a total of 7 distribution boxes installed west of the home. The 7 distribution boxes will feed a total of 7-36.6 ft long trenches. Trenches are proposed to have 6 inches of rock below the drainfield pipe. Ez flow trenches from infiltrator can be used in place of aggregate. The trench system is proposed in an area that has many trees. The trenches should fit between all of the large trees. There may be some small trees that need to be dug out. Drainfield and tanks are proposed more than 20 feet from all property lines. This new on-site sewage treatment system is designed for a 4 -bedroom home, Type 1 system in accordance with the MPCA Chapter 7080 and local ordinances. The soils on this site are sands. The periodically saturated soils were located after going to a depth of 60 inches. This will provide 36 inches of separation with the deepest trench being installed 24 inches deep or shallower. All tank manholes should be brought to grade upon completion of tank installation, inspection ports for the distribution boxes should also be at grade upon completion. Keep all vehicles and construction equipment off septic area. Rutting and/or compacting the soil will change the percolation rates and may lead to system failure. Homeowner to verify all property lines and all relevant setbacks. All construction to be performed in accordance with MN Rule 7080. Nothing other than human waste, toilet tissue, laundry, showers, water softener etc. should be disposed of into the septic tank. Recommend iron filters be diverted out of the system. Recommended to divert the water softener as well. Garbage disposals are no recommend, due to adding more solids and fine solids passing through the system. Excessive amounts of soap, antibacterial soaps, cleaning agent, showers, cleaners used every shower and chlorine agents may kill the bacteria needed to treat septic effluent. Additives are not recommended. Recommend laundering be limited to 3 loads per day. IRON FILTERS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE SEPTIC SYSTEM. If surfaced sewage or strong odors are not corrected by pumping the tank or fixing broken caps and leaks, call your service professional. Untreated sewage may make humans and animals sick. Keep bikes, snowmobiles and other traffic off and control borrowing animals. Alarms. Alarms signal when there is a problem; contact your service professional any time the alarm signals. Lint filter. If you have a lint filter, check for lint buildup and clean when necessary. If you do not have one, consider adding one after washing machine. Effluent screen. If you do not have one, consider having one installed the next time the tank is cleaned along with an alarm. Annually • Water usage rate. A water meter or another device can be used to monitor your average daily water use. Compare your water usage rate to the design flow of your system (listed on the next page). Contact your septic professional if your average daily flow over the course of a month exceeds 70% of the design flow for your system. • Caps. Make sure that all caps and lids are intact and in place. Inspect for damaged caps at least every fall. Fix or replace damaged caps before winter to help prevent freezing issues. • Water conditioning devices. See Page 5 for a list of devices. When possible, program the recharge frequency based on water demand (gallons) rather than time (days). Recharging too frequently may negatively impact your septic system Consider updating to demand operation if your system currently uses time, • Review your water usage rate. Review the Water Use Appliance chart on Page 5. Discuss any major changes with your service provider or pumper/maintainer. During each visit by a service provider or pumper/maintainer • Make sure that your service professional services the tank through the manhole. At each visit a written report/record must be provided to homeowner. Plumbing/Source of Wastewater Review the Water Use Appliance Chart on Page 5 with homeowner. Discuss any changes in water use and the impact those changes may have on the septic system. Review water usage rates (if available) with homeowner. Septic Tank/Pump Tanks Manhole lid. Replace damaged or missing pipes and caps. • Baffles. Check to make sure they are in place and attached, and that inlet/outlet baffles are clear of buildup or obstructions. Effluent screen.
