Dear Ms. McAthie:
An inspection of your septic system was conducted on April 24, 2000. The system was installed on
May 16, 1967 by Widmer Bros. A summary of the inspection is below.
Septic Tank Condition
1. Pumpout not needed at this time.(Last Pumpout 10/27/98.)
The septic sSstem is non-compliant due to a lack of a three foot separation distance between the bottom
of the drainfield to the seasonally high watertable. The three foot requirement is a State Code, not a City
Code. A soil boring was conducted to determine the depth of the seasonally watertable. The residence
must connect to the municipal sewer system no later than Decem6er 31, 2004.
Enclosed is a list of state licensed septic contractors who work in Orono on a regular basis. Also
enclosed is a fact sheet explaining how a septic system functions properly. Finally, an as-built drawing
is enclosed that shows the approximate location of the septic system.
If you have any questions regarding this report, please contact me at the City Offices at 249-4600.
Re pectful .

Dear Project Area Residents;
Installation of the sanitary sewer lines and lift stations is complete for the Bracketts Poind Bay Ridge
sanitary sewer project. The system will be operational and available for residential connections as
of Monday,November 3rd. All connections to the system must be completed by a state licensed
plumber. A City permit for connection must be obtained by the licensed plumber who is going to
complete the work. Payment of the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services SAC (Sewer
Availability Charge) must be made when the sewer connection permit is issued. This charge is for
the metropolitan sewer system downstream capacity that has been reserved for new sanitary sewer
connections.
According to Orono City Code, all connections to the sewer system must be made within 16
months of the official date that the system is operational for residential connections. Based on the
availability date of November 3rd 1997, the deadline for connection to the system is March 3rd
1999. Effectively, this means that all connections will need to be completed before the end of the
1998 construction season.
Restoration of the project area is scheduled for this fall with the final surface course of asphalt
pavement scheduled for completion in 1998. Thank you for your assistance in this matter and
patience and understanding during construction of this project. Please contact myself or Tom
Kellog with Boonestro Engineers, Phone 604-4863, should you have any questions or concerns
about the project.
Sincerely
V` C
