He was concerned about an open hole in the driveway. , That open hole is the inspection/cleanout port for the first septic tank. This 6" diameter steel Fipe extending from the toF of the tank to the surface must be suitably capped so that the pipe remains easily accessible but excludes surface run-off water from entering the tank. I advised Mr. Weed that this could be done by any reFutable septic system installatien or pumpout firm. I also suggested, but will not require, that the 6" stack be reFlaced with a 20" manhole and manhole cover casting (such as already is installed in the pump tank ) for future ease of system maintenance. - Further, I suggested that the pump station be inspected by a septic system contractor to verify that it is in working order. Box 66 Orono, MN 55356 Crystal Bay, MN 55323-0066 October 28, 1997 Dear Project Area Residents; Installation of the sanitary sewer lines and lift stations is complete for the Bracketts Point/Bay Ridge sanitary sewer project. The system will be operational and available for residential connections as of Monday,November 3rd. All connections to the system must be completed by a state licensed plumber. A City permit for connection must be obtained by the licensed plumber who is going to complete the work. Payment of the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services SAC (Sewer Availability Charge) must be made when the sewer connection permit is issued. This charge is for the metropolitan sewer system downstream capacity that has been reserved for new sanitary sew-er connections. According to Orono City Code, all connections to the sewer system must be made within 16 months of the official date that the system is operational for residential connections. Based on the availability date of November 3rd 1997, the deadline for connection to the system is March 3rd 1999. Effectively, this means that all connections will need to be completed before the end of the 1998 construction season. Restoration of the project area is scheduled for this fall with the final surface course of asphalt pavement scheduled for completion in 1998. Thank you for your assistance in this matter and patience and understanding during construction of this project. Please contact myself or Tom Kellog with Boonestro Engineers, Phone 604-4863, should you have any questions or concerns about the project. Sincerely ,;C Gregory A.
