The fire lane adjacent to this property has an erosion issue that could be improved with cooperation of the neighboring owner. COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: Consider a motion to approve the ravine stabilization in the fire lane adjacent to 1330 Cherry Place in the amount of$13,875 from the stormwater fund. • Item#09-CC Agenda-07/28/2014 • 1330 Cherry Place Ravine Stabilisation [Page 2 of 5] • 0,"—" ill BOLTON S NA N K , I N6 /p Z Consulting Engineers & Surveyors m'` fi 2638 Shadow Lane,Suite 200•Chaska, MN 55318-1172 Phone(952)448-8838•Fax(952)448-8805 www.bolton-menk.com July 22,2014 City of Orono Attn: Jessica Loftus PO Box 66 Orono,MN 55323 RE: 1330 Cherry Place Ravine Stabilization Dear Jessica: There is an existing fire lane adjacent to 1330 Cherry Place that has an erosion issue that is in need of attention. City staff has been working with the adjacent property owner to develop a plan to address the erosion and share the cost of the project. Based on the proximity of the fire lane to 1330 Cherry Place, the property owner has agreed to correct the erosion with the restoration activities that are necessary to complete his house construction project. Staff is proposing that the City share in the cost of the project by paying for the materials. The property owner will be responsible for the cost of the labor. The quote for materials and the proposed restoration plan are attached for your review. I have reviewed the quote with Public Works staff and have concluded that the costs are fair given the relatively small quantities needed for the project. Therefore,I recommend approving the cost sharing in the amount of $13,875. It is my understanding that this project will be funded from the City's storm water fund. Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information. Sincerely, BOLTON&MENK,INC. II& David P.Martini,P.E.
