Dear Mr. Pfaff
Subject: 2380 Shadywood Road-Snyders Store Site.
This letter is regarding a safety hazard and debris on this property. On October 10th, 2004,
City Staff performed an inspection of the property During this inspection it was noted that a
section of the fence on top of the retaining wall for the stormwater pond was missing and
there is debris in the stormwater pond and adjacent areas in violation of City Code Section
58-1 (a).
Orono City Code Sec. 58-1. Maintenance of private property.
(a) It is the duty of the owner of every vacant property and the owner and occupant of
every occupied property to maintain the property in a neat, clean and presentable
manner free of any junk, debris, refuse, litter, dead trees, or noxious weeds, and to
remove all other public health or safety hazards from the property.
Immediate corrective action should be taken to secure the fence on top of the retaining
wall as this is a safety hazard. Permanent repairs of the fence and removal of the debris
on the property needs to completed before the deadline listed below.
This letter will serve as your notice that the property must be brought into
compliance by October 29,2004. Please be advised, if you fail to correct the violations
prior to the deadline, the City will correct the violations and the costs to do so will be
assessed against your property [cite: city code 58-1 (c)]. Those costs will be certified to
the County Auditor and will be collected in the same manner as special assessments
against your property.
