SER Project No: 2002-066-03 Project Location: ' Portion of the NE1/4 of Section 36, T 118N, R 23W, City of Orono, Hennepin County, Minnesota Project Description: Wetland Classification, Identification, Delineation and Staking ' Services Dear Mr. Bastiaens, - As requested, Svoboda Ecological Resources (SER) visited the above referenced property on - June-14, 2002, to examine the site for the presence of areas meeting wetland criteria. Criteria for determining jurisdictional wetlands are as described in the 1987 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual(1987 Manual) as required by the Minnesota Wetland Conservation Act. The project site exhibits gently rolling topography and consists of two single- _ family residences,mature forest and an open-water pond along the south side of the parcel. The • subject property, approximately 5.25 acres, is bounded by Ferndale Road to the east,'Lydiard Road to the north, a single-family residence to the west and an open-water pond to the south of the subject property. Single-family housing is the current land uses surrounding the open-water'- pond. Current land uses on the,other side of the bordering streets consist of single-family housing. The property lies within the NEI/4 of Section 36, Township 118N, Range 23W, Hennepin County, Minnesota,.Figure 1. METHODS , . . National Wetland Inventory(NWI) maps, the Soil Survey of Hennepin County maps, Minnesota ' Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Protected Waters maps, and aerial photographs were reviewed prior to the site visit to identify areas of concern. Areas illustrating evidence of wetland conditions were examined in greater detail during the field survey. Vegetation, soils and hydrology were examined(as outlined in the 1987 Manual) and used to characterize wetland types and determine wetland boundaries. Sample transects were established in representative wetland-to-upland transition zones in order to characterize the vegetation and hydrology of the site. The transects consisted of one representative upland sample point and one representative wetland sample point.
