HomeMy WebLinkAboutTax Forfeiture on property TO: Michael P. Gaffron, Assistant Planning & Zoning Administrator FROM: John Gerhardson, Public Works Director DATE: February 7, 1995 SUBJECT: BCI Letter It is my understanding that the lots were acquired as a "tax forfeiture" aeveral years ago. They may have been acquired for Park purposes. GD22pr See (e-nL 7-7 In any event, if the City decides it no longer has a need for the property and wants to dispose of it, they must reconvey back to Hennepin County for private sale. Ir most cases there would be a stipulation that the land can only be sold to adjoining properties. We would insist on drainage and utility easements as there is a drainageway on the south side of the southerly most lot. This is a "shooting from the hip" response but I would be surprised if the official response was not the same. In my opinion, I think the City should consider some type of cleanup of the property and maybe some neighbors would be interested in an "Adopt a Green Space" program. lsv / g$ • .
