CITY of ORON( <br /> t .: a t •• Post Office Box a$.Cry.ai Bay,Minnesota 5 323•Monidal Offica <br /> _ On the North Shore of Lake Minnetonka <br /> December 26, 1990 <br /> John Prudden <br /> 315 Woodhill Road <br /> Wayzata, MN 55391 <br /> Re: Non-Conforming/Failing Septic Systems <br /> Dear Mr. Prudden: <br /> During the process of siting a well for the Meile residence <br /> under construction at 1260 Woodhill Avenue, it was discovered <br /> that the outlet pipe from your westerly septic system extends <br /> into the Meile property. <br /> Because the City had no record of the location of drainfield <br /> serving •o'er septic system , Meile ' s builder , B•uce Bren , <br /> excavated along the lot line to verify that your system was not <br /> encroaching across the line, to assist in determining a suitable <br /> well location. Upon excavation, he discovered a clay tile which <br /> was verified to be the outlet from your septic tank. B`cause <br /> you, septic tank is approximately 40' from the lot line, and <br /> because there is no evidence of drainfield within either <br /> property, it is likely that this tile extends to and discharges <br /> into the wetland further west. <br /> Bren reconnected the pipe so that your system would remain <br /> "functional". However, because it has been verified that this <br /> system does not meet minimum code requirements, it will have to <br /> be have to be replaced. <br /> Because the Meile's well is of necessity being located near <br /> a ravine leading from the north end of your property, the City <br /> also inspected your other septic systems to verify that a similar <br /> straight pipe situation did not exist in that location on the <br /> Meile property. While that inspection revealed that it would be <br /> highly unlikely for a straight pipe frcm your caretaker house to <br /> extend westward, we did find that the second septic system from <br /> your main house is discharging to the surface near the garden <br /> east of the caretaker house.
