Dear Mr. Stevenson:
:in Thursday February 18, 2010 I made a site visit to the above referenced project at your request.
The purpose of the visit was to give my professional opinion on the framing of the 2 tall walls with doors
or the addition and the columns on the south end of the porch.
1. Add straps inside both columns at the south end of the porch to resist uplift (see attached
sketch,
2. Add 1 king stud on each side of the 12 foot door openings so there are at least 2 king studs at
each side of the framed opening.
After the 2 items above are installed, the framing will for these areas will meet or exceed the
requirements of the 2006 IRC with the Minnesota Amendments.
