HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991 - Lot 2 usage r CITY of ORONO CF ..4- Post Office Box 66•Crystal Bay,Minnesota 55323•Municipal Offices • ORONO On the North Shore of Lake Minnetonka April 8 , 1991 Attn: Mark H. Schriever Otten Brothers Nursery 2350 Wayzata Blvd Long Lake, MN 55356 Dear Mark: The Orono staff would like to thank you for the opportunity to review the business profile for Otten Brothers Nursery and Landscaping Inc. Please let me apologize for the delay in our response to you as we were only able to receive the City Engineer's input on Thursday, April 4th. The fencing shown on the most recent site plan for the most part appears to meet the required setbacks for accessory structures. I have enclosed a copy of the B-6 zoning standards for setbacks. Note fencing must be at a minimum of 30' from the street lot line. I would suggest that you measure setback from the north line of Outlot D in making the setback determinations, as Outlot D will be deeded to the State Highway Department at a future date when proposed safety upgrade is realized. The Public Works Department has asked for final comment on the placement of fencing and gates to insure that all utilities can be accessed and not restricted by security fencing. Your lighting plans were not addressed in your final site plan approved April 5, 1990. Staff would suggest that you provide a site plan locating the lighting and provide specs on the type of signage to be used. Please note lighting must be directed downward and away from adjacent property lines and road right-of-ways. The City has little information as to how Lot 2 is to be used by Otten Brothers Nursery. The final approved site plan (noted above) provides no detail. Planned Unit Development No. I Agreement for East Willow Woods states on Page 2 (enclosed herewith) that "Lot 2 may be used for the storage of plant, garden and landscape related supplies and materials in conjunction with Developer's use of Lot 1. It would be helpful if you could provide an updated site plan locating the following on the site plan: - BUILDING&ZONING-473-7357 • ADMINISTRATION&FINANCE-473-7358 • PUBLIC WORKS-473-7359 ASSESSING FAX-473-0510 Otten Brothers Nursery April 8 , 1991 Page 2 of 2 1. location of pile of tree brush and tree trunks stored on site temporarily; 2 . dirt pulverizing machine; 3 . storage area for bolders used in landscaping; 4. 30 cubic yard trash dumpster; 5. temporary holding area for soil , sod and dead plant material. Please provide as much information on the dirt pulverizing machine. Questions were raised as to the noise factor in its operation and the time of day it is in use. It may be helpful if you can have staff make a site inspection at the time the pulverizing machine is in use. As for all the other items noted within your profile, all of the uses and activities cited appear to be consistent with a nursery and landscape business. Please contact my office if you have any further questions concerning matters discussed above. Sincerely, ii1 Jeanne A. Mabusth, Building & Zoning Administrator JAM/tln Enclosure - §10. 45, Subd. 6
