78-1466(8) Temporary signs.
a, There shall be no more than four temporary business signs issued per calendar year,and for a period of not more than ten days per
time or of the duration of the event promoted by the sign message,whichever is less.The sign(including banners or balloons),sign supports or
portable stand shall be removed from public view at the cod of the period.Total area of the sign shall not exceed 32 square feet per surface(61
square feet total signage allowed for twcesided portable sign).Advertising balloons are not subject to area restrictions but must meet all
applicable federal and state standards.
b. There shall be no more than one temporary sign in any required yard area,and.if separate multiple signs arc proposed,the total arca
of the signs shall not exceed 32 square feet.Temporary business signs require a building permit from the city.No such permit shall be issued by
the city if a conditional use permit under section 78-1467(1)e has been issued ton residential property.No temporary sign shall be allowed in
residential zones unless permitted as election or sale signs under this section.Multitenant buildings be considered as a single property for
purposes of subsection(8)of this section;and the use of the single temporary business sign by tenure;on the property shall be the responsibility
of the properly owner or designated manager,who shall endorse in writing all applications for sign permits.
c, The owner or manager of the sign and the owner of the tone etty shall be equally responsible for the proper location,maintenance and
removal of the sign.All temporary signs shall be located on a property so that they do not impede safety by obstructing vision of pedestrians or
motor vehicle ops atom's,
Sec.78-1468.Signs in B and I districts.
Within the B and 1 districts,nameplate signs and business signs are permitted subject to the following regulations:
(1) 8-1.13-2 and B-4:size.Within the B-I,B-2 and B-4 districts,the aggregate,square footage of sign space per lot shall not
exceed the sum of one square foot for each bort foot of building,plus one square foot for each filet foot of lot riot occupied by a building.No
individual sign shall exceed 50 square feet,
(2) 133:size.Within the B-3 district,the aggregate square footage of sign space per lot shall not exceed the sum of four square
feet per front foot of building plus one square foot per front foot of property not occupied by a building.No individual sign surface shall exceed
100 square fest
(3) 1;size.Within any 1 district the aggregate square footage of sign space per lot shall not exceed the sum of four square feet
per front foot of building,plus one square foot per front foot of property not occupied by a building,.No individual sign surface shall exceed 100
square feet.
(4) B-1,B-2 and 13-4:height Within the B-1.B-2 and B-4 districts,no sign shall extend in height more than two feet above the
highest outside wall or parapet of any principal building,nor shall any sign be located closer than ton feet from any property line:except that any
sign over ten square feet may project two feet into any required yard area from the principal building.
(S) 13-3 and T:height.Within any 11-3 or I district,no sign shall extend in height more than six feet in height above the highest
outside wall or parapet of any principal building.No sign shall be located closer than ten feet from any piuperty line,except that any sign
exceeding ten square feet may project only two feet into the yard area from any building.
(Code 1984.§ 10,61(3))
Please Note: This is only an application for a permit. Do not erect the sign until you have received the
permit. A double fee will be charged for any sign erected prior to obtaining a permit. Incomplete
applications will not be processed.
