ORONO PARK COMMISSION MEETING
MINUTES FOR JUNE S, 1995
ATTENDANCE
The Park Commission met on the above date with the following members
present Cha.ir Richard Flint, Susan Wilson, Lili McMillan, Robert Howells,
Sherokee Ilse and Jim White. Public Works Director John Gerhardson
represented Staff. Chair Flint called the meeting to order at 9:00 p.m. after
the park tour.
FRIENDS OF THE PARK AWARD
Discussion centered around nominations for the 1995 Park Award. The
commission's consensus for this year's recipient was narrowed to the Girl
Scout Troops #1210/1900 for their work at French Creek Preserve and
OBA for their successful completion of the Crystal Bay ballfields.
Wilson moved, Ilse seconded, to nominate jointly the Girl Scout Troops
#1210/1900 and OBA as 199 S recipients of the Friends of the Park Award.
Ayes 6, Nays 0.
Flint noted that many in the Girl Scout Troop were high school graduates
which may necessitate an earlier award presentation than the usual
October park commission meeting. The issue of whether to have a
separate award ceremony for each group was discussed. It may be easier
for all involved to present the award to both groups on the same night It
was agreed to finalize this issue at the July meeting and then promptly
report this to the City Council.
Wilson and McMillan will work on the plaque and presentarion. Ilse will
be in charge of refreshments for the award reception.

The following schedule was determined:
6/12 - McMillan 7/24 - Flint
6/26 - White 8/14 - Ilse
7/10 - Wilson 8/28 - Howells
