Mcllermott cited a sign design he viewed in use on CoRd 19 by Manitou Yark (not in

McMillan said she telt the 24"x24" size was too large and 18"x 18" would be adequate.
McDermott commented that the posts he has viewed were constructed of 2x4's
�andwiched on lx4's witl� the si�ns rnoimted c�n t�lvwood. h�lt�cl on, and si�n h�r»in�, ��f�'
to the side of the post.
Flint agreed that the signs should be smaller than 24"x24" and commented that
snowmobile trails use smaller si�ns.

White said the sign system used by Hennepin Parks is easily recognized by people and are
easily repaired. Flint agreed that t!:� u�::::�pin Pw;ks si�:�s �.-ere�;ood si�ns, ��hich we
should use, but added that the traffic signs for the roads would be larger in size.
Gerhardson commented that the signs as proposed were recommended by Mn/DOT. The

McDermott suggested the posts could be 6x6 with routed tops or the sandwich type used
by Hennepin County. These could be used on the trail «�ith the channel posts used on the
road. Gerhardson said he would suggest that we use 4x4 treated wood. McDermott

could be done but treated wood would need to be used. It was discussed whether round
ar spuared nosts should he used (�erhardsan commented on the possible vandalism to
signs when signs are bolted to wooden posts.
The Commission agreed to review the posts for signs used by Hennepin County and use
l8"xl8" size si.�ns for trail usa�e with 24"�24" si�ns for vehicles, on trcatcd wood posts.

The 1995 agenda was reviewed.

Numbers 1, 2, and 3 will continue anto the 1996 agenda. McMillan asked if the Winter
Recreation Program was ready ta be�in an� r�ady for advertise��,;,r.�. �crhar�'scr� sa�d :.r.;,
more meeting was scheduled concerning the program before this could happen. It has not
been determined when Phase TT of('rystal Ray Park will occur Th� nei�hhorh��d wo��lcl
like to see an ice rink constructed for the winter of 19969-1997. McMillan said Randi

inform Staff of their desire for the rink. Number 3 will include the "Completion of

Woods". McMillan suggested the possibility of a Boy Scout Troop adopting the trail.

week's hearing were for using "ag line" noting that bituminous could always be added
later. The DNR did not seem to favor this su��;estion accordin�to Flir�t.
McMillan asked how this would be ai�ected by snowmobilers as she telt this activity
would di� ut� the bituminous. McDerm�tt said the snow,����;;�waul� he dama�� ��st

The area under discussion at last week's meetmg was the Luce Line west trom Narkers

the trail starting from Stubbs Bay Road and going west. Ilse said Stubbs Bay Road was

llse commented that Laune Young ot�the llNR was more in tavor of the area being
defined to CoRd 92 only, though others at her particular ,�'.�scass��n table did r���think it
extended the trail area out far enough. Flint said the people at his table concurred. Ilse

trail to remain limestone to Watertown.
Ilse asked for representation at the next meeting being held this same week at the
Watertown Communitv Center.
