June 6, 1989
ATTENDANCE: The Park Commission met at 6 PM with the following in atten-
dance: Jim Gilbert, Virginia Sweatt, Bruce Kokal, Alex Vongries, Dick Flint,
Lee Erger and Phil Bradley. John Gerhardson led the members on a tour of city
park sites. Les Kelley was absent.
Following the tour of all city parks except Crystal Bay playground, the
commission reconvened at the City Hall at 8:25 and approved the minutes of
the May 2nd meeting; decided to postpone the dedication of the Livingston
Park sculpture until fall; tabled further action on the jet ski problem in
Long Lake; and heard a report from John Gerhadson that as of now there is no
evidence of eurasian water milfoil in Long Lake.
Alex Vongries reported on his appearance before the City Council on May 8th,
saying that the Council expressed interest in the Park User survey results and
assked for a comparison with the results of the survey taken ten years ago.
Alex reminded us that we will have to prepare a revision of the Capital
IrnprovementProgram for 1990 and that we should begin now to define our goals
now using the park user survey material. .
The Commission will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, June 27, at 7 PM to
complete its recommendation to the Council for revision of the park dedication
fee schedule.
The meeting zidjourned at 9:35 PM.
