ATTENDANCE
Philip Bradley, Chairperson, Les Kelley, Lee Erger, Virginia Sweatt,
Dick Flint, and Jim Gilbert were present. Bruce Kokal and Alexander
Vongries were absent. John Gerhardson from the Orono City staff was
also present.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes from the September 12, 1988 meeting were reviewed and
approved.
NEW MEMBERS
Dick Flint and Jim Gilbert briefly told the Commission about
themselves.
SCULPTURE DEDICATION
Phil Bradley gave a brief explanation of the sculpture at Livingston
Tower Park for the benefit of the new members. Following the
discussion, the Commission agreed that the dedication of the sculpture
should be in the spring as the area will be more attractive at that
time.
SUMMIT PARR
Council approved the expansion of the parking lot at Summit Park
Swimming Beach. Construction will begin this fall and be completed in
the Spring of 1989. Park Dedication funds will fund the expansion.
PARK SURVEY
The park survey has been revised and will be presented to Council for
approval.
PARR DEDICATION FEE SCHEDULE REVIEW
Information regarding the Park Dedication Fee Schedule from Orono and
Minnetrista was presented for review. It was determined that more
information will be submitted prior to the next Park Commission
meeting before any action is taken.
BIRE HIRE TRAIL
The master Bike-Hike Trail Plan has been submitted to Council and has
received conceptual approval. A classification of trails needs to be
developed.
ADJODRNMENT
The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday,
December 6, 1988 at 7 :00 p.m.
